LR is a rapper and songwriter from the Bronx, New York, and a member of DACLIKK. Ask what the music is about and the answer stays plain: feelings, experiences, thoughts. Songs a listener can put themselves inside of.

Most of them are about someone. “Red Dress.” “Just Friends.” “Deserve You.” “Let Me Love You.” “The Last Time.” It is a body of work that keeps circling the same territory — wanting somebody, waiting on somebody, the hour it stops working — and treats that as worth real technique.

The technique is New York. Big Pun, Jay-Z, Eminem — the writers whose names still carry on these streets. The melody comes from elsewhere: Aaliyah and Missy Elliott shape how he moves between singing and rapping. Reviewing “Red Dress” for A&R Factory, Amelia Vandergast heard “the Bronx grit that has shaped the artist’s conviction” inside a style that “refuses to settle into any one corner of hip-hop.”

With DACLIKK he has been putting records out since 2021 — the album In Too Deep, the Summer EP, and singles including “Motion,” “Sprung” and “The Mack.” Covering “Sprung,” ViViPlay noted the group’s ability “to switch gears so rapidly from sounding strong on a rhythm to talking about love.”
